The weekend...

So i'm glad the weekend is over! not that it was a bad weekend but it was somewhat long and i'm tired! i hate getting to work on a monday morning after you should feel rested but you are more tired then when you left on Thursday night! :) So, this next weekend isn't going to be any better i'm sure...being as we are leaving on Thursday afternoon and not getting home until Monday night from ACL...i'm very very excited about this...okay, so i'm going to share with you the shows i will be at for sure:
Bela Fleck and the flecktones- i've seen them live before and they are great live. after seeing them live i went and got one of their cd's and it wasn't quite the same but is it ever. :)

Spoon- the new spoon album is pretty good.

Bjork- she is someone that i've been waiting to see live for a really, really long time. i can't even fathom what its going to be like!

Damien Rice- i'm a damien rice fan, but i go back and forth with listening to his albums...sometimes they sound all the same to me then other times, its just perfect for my mood. i do think that his latest album 9 is my favorite though...there are a few just killer songs on there...like elephant, coconut skins and me, my yoke and i...good stuff, has anyone heard it??

Andrew Bird- i can honestly say this is the one i'm most excited about...i've seen some of his shows on TV and on the internet and i just can't wait to see him live!

Muse- they are just good...

Okay, here is a toss up for me...i think i'm going to have to split my time between these two...Arcade Fire and the White Stripes....i hate when they do this....i'm thinking Arcade Fire may get more of my attention but the White Stripes, i've been wanting to see them...but if i had to pick which one i liked more musically it would be arcade fire...which one would you pick??

Sunday is the best day by far!

Yo La Tengo- i know not many of you like them...but i think everyone should give them another shot or listen to their latest album...they are good, i promise!

Fionn Regan- a while ago i blogged about him...his kind of singer songwriter and he has an awesome voice...very good stuff...as a matter of fact i may have put up a video

The National- a girl at work let me borrow this cd and its good...as a matter of fact i think i'll listen to it now :) she also let me listen to langhorne slim...has anyone heard them??? that is also some good stuff!

Ian Bell- from Gomez...i was a little disappointed when i didn't see gomez on the list...but then i just found out that at least one of gomez is going to be there and all was right with the world again!

Midlake- another one of those obsure bands that not many people have heard and the only reason i have was because of Chad Gulley but they are pretty good and i'm excited to see them live...live is always better!

Lucinda Williams- its just fun to see if she can make it through the entire show!

Wilco- Nothing more needs to be said about them...they just have an awesome show every time i see them and if you haven't heard the new album...you need too...(man, i'm coming up with all kinds of albums to talk about now :)

The Decemberists- there is a whole blog about them... :)

The we end with Bob Dylan...and honestly i have no idea what to expect here! :)

Has anyone heard or no anything about Joss Stone, Blonde Redheads, or MIA...i've actually heard of them..but don't know that i've actually heard them...Also, check out the ACL lineup and tell me if there is something that i should see!

Has anyone seen any of these bands? What were you thoughts?

I saw Del Mccoury on Letterman or Conan and thought they were good.

The Paul Green School of Rock might be interesting to see in a young-people-with-oodles-of-talent, freak show kind of way.

It would be worth it just to see those last 3 bands you mentioned!

Have fun!

I expect a full report when you get back.

I like what I have heard of Louis XIV so if you get there in time Friday.....

LCD Soundsystem is REALLY good, but I doubt you're much into electronica. :)

I noticed Steve Earle is playing on Saturday. I'm dying to see him live.

As for your White Stripes/Arcade Fire dilemma: for many people that would be a hard decision as both bands are great. I'm such an extreme fan of AF that it wouldn't be a tough decision for me. I have heard TWS have cancelled their upcoming US tour so they may not be at ACL. I get the majority of my music news from soundopinions.com, but haven't been over there in a few weeks so if there is an update to that bit of news, I wouldn't know about it.

And, Jenn....if you don't see My Morning Jacket live, your ACL ticket is a ticket wasted. ;)

I agree about Steve Earle. He's really awesome, at least his recordings are. I bet he would be pretty entertaining too.

Joss Stone is an amazing singer. She sings real soulful, bluesy r & b type music. She's white but has the soul of a black woman. And she's from England, I think.

Indigo Girls might be cool.

Regina Spektor might be a good one-I like what I have heard of her.

I love Amos Lee but don't know what kind of show he puts on.

I saw Bob Dylan when he played with Willie Nelson and some other band at the Redhawks stadium and wasn't that impressed. Willie was much cooler.

Anyone else I like you're already seeing.
