Kids make me laugh sometimes with what they say...

today i overheard this in one of my 2nd grade classes.

"Adult vampires are the only ones that can turn into bats"

I wish i could remember some of the other things right now...but i can't :) Stay tuned for pictures of the giant paper turkey!

last night was pumpkin carving night!! :) it was lots of fun and several awesome pumpkins came from the evening....i even stayed up past my bed time! :)

cody and i bought some pumpkin stands this year for halloween....my was a skeleton and his was a vampire...his was much, much harder than mine!

Cindys pumpkins are her own design...and very cute!

And now for the political pumpkins....my vote with the Obama symbol..

And the pumpkin that takes the cake....and whitney worked very hard on!! OBAMA!

Some of the pictures are kind of blurry because i was taking them without a flash so that the light would shine through! And the last picture is obama and vote together.

Last Saturday we did the "memory walk"...our team raised about $1,300 (whitney worked her ass off) thanks to generous supporters! Whitneys mother, a great women, was diagnosised with Alzheimer's not to long ago, we walked in honor of her and in memory of cody's great uncle who died recently and had Alzheimer's pretty bad. We are hoping they find a cure soon so that we don't have to force whitney into the shower when we are older :) Anyway...some of our pictures...

Go Team!

I am currently sitting outside in my drive way with a bunch of crap sitting all around me. Yeap...you guessed it....i'm having a garage sale. This things are boring....especially early in the morning on a Friday when no one is even up let alone coming to a garage sale. Other things working against us.....its not very warm right now....actually i'm pretty damn cold. We don't have any very large items to sell....as a matter of fact....we have the most books of any garage sale EVER!! And we have lots of vases and picture frames! Today i'm here by my lonesome...tomorrow Cody will be here to share the love! So needless to say.....fall break is going to be TONS of fun! :) But it is all for a new couch...i have to keep telling myself that!

I am taking pole dance lessons tonight though...hehe! bachelorette fun-ness!

I pretty much don't have anything else to say :)

So todays art project is listening to music...we are listening to the string quartet arrangement of the cures lovecats....and talk about what we think when we are listening to it and then paint what we think. So i had a student come up to me and say....

"Mrs. Bounds, This music reminds me of Thanksgiving and indians because indians love thanksgiving!" Maybe its just me but i found very cute and humorous!

Something that is driving me nuts here though is the students that aren't able to say the name BOUNDS....so several students call me Mrs. Bowlands....i'm not sure why that bothers me so much but it really does!

So school has been EXTREMELY busy.....Tuesday we had talent show auditions after school....it really was a nightmare. We had about 35 acts actually show up....45 signed up....and we cut it to 13. All day yesterday i had students crying.....some of my biggest pains in the butt were crying....but after October 10th it will be over.....but it will be really cute...there are some very cute acts going to participate!

Okay...i'm going to go set up for my next class! Happy Thursday!

work: yesterday i about had a breakdown. i went to the school, and my room was the catch all room for the painters....so it was a disaster! i was about to walk out of the school, because there was really nothing more for me to do...and i met some of my fellow teachers. they were nice...but all three of them had cars full of stuff so i helped them move it all in. then i realized, i have NOTHING!! thats when the panic set in! now i realize, i'm a music teacher and music teachers tend to leave the stuff the school bought at the school and i haven't taught in 2 years and at that time i taught strings, not general music. so i was still in a panic and decided to go see what lakeshore had in the way of music things for bulletin boards and decorations! NOTHING...they had nothing! so i truck it over to mardels.....who has a quarter or a section of music decorations and really nothing i could use!!!!! this was even more frustrating. its a good thing i'm creative and have awesome friends who can help with figure out how to accomplish my ideas....hopefully on monday i will have a pictures to show you of what we are about to do to my classroom!

this morning i was a little on the nervous side. i'm sure most people are when they are starting a new job...but it went well (other than being a little boring)!! i think it is going to be a great year...and from what i can tell of the staff they are going to be awesome too. i think it will also be fun to have such a small school and a smaller group of teacher and administration to get to know!
so i will keep you all informed on how things are going!

for now...more wedding pictures! :)

I love them....so i will post a few here for you guys to enjoy too! hehe!!

I will only post this many for now!! But i know i will post more later!

So this morning on the way to work i was thinking about teaching music....and wondering what i'm going to do to keep from going completely insane with childrens music...surely their has to be something out their that is okay. Then it hit me....They might be giants has a childrens album....although i haven't heard it, i'm very excited about this idea....i did look at the song list and it seems like something i could work with...and it looks as though they have at least 3 childrens albums and are coming out with another. Then I got to thinking....Jack Johnson, he has the album Sing-a-long and lullabies based from the curious george soundtrack...this is awesome. And i'm finding all kind of musicians that have made childrens albums...including the barenaked ladies. I'm going to check them all out and i'll let you know if they any good!

Yesterday...i got the card that states my last name has officially changed....its weird. I decided to practice before signing it...i signed my last name great....but i totally messed up my first name....isn't that how it always is! :)
1.5 days of work left...woohoo!!

The wedding blog i promised you all!! :) Please visit..

wedd to a different drum....the blog!

The weekend....

This weekend was a movie weekend...we went on Friday night and saw the dark knight (again, we love it)...we went on Saturday night with Theresa and Steve and saw Step Brothers, it was pretty funny! And then on Sunday we went to see Hellboy 2, i like this too. Really, there aren't to many movies that i don't like..hehe!

I have 7 more days of work here in this office...and about 2.5 hours of sick leave that i will have to use of lose...which means i have about 4.5 days of work for the DDS....woohoo!

This coming weekend...

We are having a party....we have an entire keg that hasn't been touch and we need some help...also, why not celebrate a new job! And it makes me clean the house!

Has anyone heard the new flight of the conchords CD? It is pretty funny...they have taken theirs songs and changed them up....so what you are used to singing at the top of your voice isn't quite the same....but you are able to make out the lyrics better...and lets face it....flight of the conchords lyrics are the best!

Also, check out Whitneys new blog...
So i am having some duster buster woos...

We got this duster buster for our wedding....but we have no idea who got it for us :( I'm distressed because i can't send anyone a thank you card and i have actually been having nightmares about it. Yes, i do know that i'm a dork...

If anyone has any information regarding this dirt devil...PLEASE let me know! We also got a craigs emporium gift certificate that didn't have a name...any information on that would be greatly appreciated too! :)

So, i just found out that all the sick leave i have does nothing after i leave...so i may just have to use it! :)

So...our honeymoon was awesome. We only had one snag and a couple of little hiccups! :) Our one snag was the day we left...we got to the airport an hour before and our flight had been cancelled...they only had ONE person re-routing the entire plane so we missed our second flight. Finally we got to the counter and they moved us over to Continental...and everything was fine from there, we just got to NY a couple of hours later than originally planned.

Our major hiccup was when we were on the subway. Cody knew are exit and we were talking. We were stopped and about the time the doors were closing, Cody ask..."where are we"...i tell him "34th street". He then proceeded to run off the subways saying this is our stop...by that time the door were pretty much closed and he was trying to stick his hand in the door to make it open...subway doors don't do that. FYI, he got his hand out in time and it is still intact! :) So i get off at the next stop....and get out of underground to give Cody a call...thinking that he would have done the same thing. But no....i tried calling 5 times and finally just decided to walk back to the hotel. About the time that i get there he calls and says that he was waiting for me to come back around.....and so we met at the hotel.

We had so much fun though, we went to the museum of natural history, the met and MOMA. My favorite was MOMA...they had a whole Dali display when we were there and it was amazing...they were showing parts of his movies and the art work that went with them. We went on to the top of the empire state building and saw the statue of liberty from battery park. We did a little shopping and went into Chinatown, Little Italy and Nolita. We went to the library there and they had a photograph display which was amazing too. We had our beer break about 3 o'clock every afternoon. We even found a beer garden in Battery Park. We went to a comedy club one night. We also saw Spam-a-lot and Young Frankenstein....both are so funny i can't even tell you! We even made it to central park and had a picnic (kind of) on our last afternoon there! Although earlier that week we got lost in central park and that wasn't fun! And we even got to see the Macy's fireworks from FDR...although it was raining on the 4th...it was still awesome!

But overall we had a great time and did about everything we wanted to do and more! :)

First we must welcome Julia into the world!! Sarah had her baby yesterday....a little girl...which surprised the hell out of me (i was sure it was going to be a boy). They decided not to find out what it was going to be....i am hoping to be able to do that...it think it would be an awesome surprise not to know! But also very, very hard....

Today...i'm turning in my 2.5 weeks notice! I'm a little nervous about it...what if something happens with the school or just whatever...even though i have signed a contract and all...but i have to do it anyway!!

So...we went and saw Ween a week ago this last Saturday....they were really awesome and they played for about 4 hours straight!! It was a little much for me...but that is not the point of this story...the point is when we got home we had no power in certian parts of our house....Cody and his dad decided the next day that the kitchen light was causing the breaker to trip...so we have not been using the overhead kitchen light. Yesterday...Cody and his dad put up a new light fixture in the kitchen and then hung a fan in the den....it is extremely funny to me how excited i get now about little home improvements!! It makes me very happy that I will not burn up everytime i'm in the den and that the house is looking more like Cody and I...In the week between jobs i'm planning on doing some painting.....i'm going to paint mainly just white in the hallways but i think it will make the house feel better!

So this makes two days in a row! :) woohoo! Its a good thing i have Whitney to keep me on track! :) Today...i went and activated my new debit card with my new last name on it....now they are going to send me another one because they didn't ask me if i wanted a picture or not....might as well have your picture on your debit card! Then i went to the jail and got my fingers printed. Why did you get your fingers printed you might ask....well....i got a new job (assuming that my background check goes okay :) After almost two years looking at medical records and determining if people are disabled...i've decided to go back to what i know. Music and teaching...so i will be teaching art and music for Dove Science Academy Elementary school next year. The more and more i think about it...the more and more i get excited about it...and i love the idea of teaching art, i get to use my craftiness and my music knowledge. Woohoo!

Then i went and got my hair cut....it so badly needed it! I had to take the purple out because of job interviews and i miss it! But there is always the summer! hehe!

Something else Whitney and I are talking about getting started is wedding planning. Helping people who want to think outside the box plan their weddings at a cost....we are still thinking about the cost part...and we will hopefully be working on getting a blog up about weddings/parties and stuff very soon...after we come up with a kick ass name!! Thats always the hardest part!

So the picture in todays blog will be from our honeymoon...and then i will blog about that sometime soon....if not this weekend Monday for sure!

I promise you the statue of liberty is right by Cody's head! :)

So....i've been think about starting a new blog lately...something that has more to do with the things i am currently into...such as crafting, possibly teaching, weddings, and married life...and many many other things!! But i think i have decided to just stick with this one, and just start writing more, and start talking about the things that i just mentioned.

So....i just got married and am loving married life so far. Not like Cody and I weren't pretty much married before, although its different when you think about it and realize that you will be with this person forever and you start to realize as a female all the things you have to do to get your named changed...trust me (and as most married women know) its a pain in the ass! And i have had to practice writing my new last name so that it wouldn't look like a 5th grader had written it, which it does on the marriage license and my new drivers license!

About the wedding: I seriously believe i had the most perfect wedding (for me anyway)..i loved it. It went even better than i had imagined it and that is saying a lot for spending 8 months planning. We had so much fun...and everyone that was in both of our parties were awesome and very helpful. I remember being so excited after we set up for the reception the wedding morning to see it all come together!! You have all these ideas in your head and you just pray it looks okay...and it did. After we decorate several of us went out to breakfast at Denny's...that was just so much fun and so relaxing...it was kind of like there wasn't going to be a wedding that day and we all just got together for breakfast on a Saturday morning regularly....(which would be kind of cool!! :) Anyway, i couldn't have ask for anything better! And my family was amazing! They totally surprised us with the poppers when we kissed....i loved it!

I'm SUPER excited to see all the pictures! Josh is amazing...this is the one Josh put up on his sneak peak and i LOVE it!! I haven't heard of anyone that was there that didn't have a good time! And thank you to all of you that where there!!

Speaking of pictures...which obviously i love, the ones from the disposable cameras are awesome too...they are so funny. I will have to put up some of them later....as this blog is getting long and i can actually think of about 20 more things to write about...i'll just have to write them down and save them for later!

And speaking of weddings and pictures....here are the pictures Josh took from Whitneys wedding! Everyone should check them out!

So coming up in future blogs....the honeymoon, my new job?, wedding planning?, more great pictures, probably more wedding talk...and with out a doubt many more things i don't even know about yet! :)

(fyi, my husband hate blogs and blogging! i find it rather humorous! :)

You down with ODD???

Nope, not OPP...but ODD??? I'm listening to NPR this morning on the way to work and they are talking about adopted teenagers vs. non-adopted teenagers and the difference in their mental health....when something was mentioned about ODD. Being as i look at medical cases everyday but the weekend, i have seen this ODD mentioned before. What is ODD you may ask??? Well, it is Oppositional Defiant Disorder...and heres my thought on this....its just another made up name for bad parenting. We just don't want to call the parents out on it, so we will make it a mental problem with the child. Obviously....i'm just bitching and haven't done my research....but i will...

Anyway....there is just 12 days until the RADIOHEAD concert in Dallas...i can't tell you how excited i am. VH1 did a special on them this last weekend. We DVR'd it and started watching it last night....i was highly disappointed with it. Whoever, mixed the sound did a really not so good job with some of their, more instrumental numbers.

I've gotten into Diet Mt. Dew lately...i seriously think its the best diet drink out there....it doesn't leave the after taste that most diet drinks leave...at least most of the time, i've noticed the after taste a little when its warmer :)

I guess thats about all i have at the moment....this weekend is the co-bachelorette party in Davis, OK....we have rented a lake house at Turner Falls...its going to be good times! :) I hope everyone got their invites to the wedding :)

AHHHH... the weekend.

So we have decided that we are going to go to Robbers Cave this weekend and do a little camping. It should be tons of fun. It doesn't look like its going to rain but we have panchos just in case. This is the only completely free weekend we have until the wedding...so we've decided to take advantage.

I found out two great things in the last couple of days....first...the drive in is opening back up on April 18th. Fun times at the drive in are a most of the summer. second...ween is playing at cains ballroom in July. Hell, yes...i'm so there!! Cody and i were just talking about how much we wanted to see ween live!

Next Friday Night....AT SAUCED...the stringents!! Grandpa Griffith was nice enough to let us open up for them. We've been trying to do that for a really long time...this time, its working out. We are excited and we will play about 9 pm. So check it out!

Is there anything else going on....lets see. Lots of wedding stuff. Cody's mom booked our flights and hotel to NYC. I'm really excited about that because we will be there for the 4th of July.

Right now i'm sitting at my desk...thinking i'm very ready to go home and the last hour of the day is ALWAYS the longest.

I hope everyones weekend is good and that i get to see everyone next week!! :)

Mouse in the House

So, for a few months we have been having problems with mice. I think they are truly gross but they come with home owning i am told.

So last night, cody was talking to his dad on the phone, and he comes down and tells me Oreo has a mouse in her mouth....and that she was just playing with it. All night you could hear Oreo running all over the room looking for that mouse. We were getting ready for bed and i was in the rest room and when i walk back into the room, cody says.....go get me an empty cup from the other room (he was sitting with his feet up, on the corner of the bed)....so i go and the mouse is sitting in some of his clothes...he puts the cup on it, while Oreo was trying to play with it....we got some paper to place under the cup and then we took the mouse outside. It was an eventful evening :)

fun stuff going on

okay....so really its not so fun...my soon to be sister-in-law is currently in the hospital. i can't really go into details but she was checked in last wednesday and they don't know when she is going to be released. there was talk of yesterday but it didn't happen which was a very good thing in my opinion. i've been really upset by the whole thing but things are looking up!

then last night....i get home from work and they have blocked off most of 15th so i can't get to my drive way.....i go down ross and park in my neighbors drive way and noticed the cops are blocking off two or three blocks of our neighborhood and there is yellow rope hanging on the statue in our front yard....which we are told we are not to walk in front of. Everyone is getting home at this time and having to park their car somewhere else and walk. So come to find out....there was a shooting involving three cars that sped down our street, one of the trucks flipped over in the yard about 5 houses down. it started at the car wash on the corner....two people (that were involved in everything) went to the ER but not hurt really bad and last time i heard they were looking for the other 3....i guess they found a car at the car wash with a trunk full of guns....and the truck that flipped over, my neighbors son saw them climb out of the car and make a run for it....fun times!

And showing to your right is the best wedding t-shirt in the world....created by Cindy who did an awesome job!! :)

Stuff and more stuff

So....whats been going on here in my world....let me tell ya!

1st Cody and I have started taking Aikido. It really is tons of fun and very different from karate (which i've taken before). We go about 3 times a week and this is our second week. I really like the dojo that we are going to, they are completely laid back...and they also offer some zen and meditation classes that i think we may check out at some point!

2nd...we bought guitar hero!! And let me just tell you that i am a complete addict now! We went on Saturday and got guitar hero III but we couldn't find a second guitar....so then we went on Sunday and got guitar hero II. Now we are set for 2 person action. If you have never played....you really, really need too, and feel free to come play at our house! :)

Anyway...I think that is currently about it....except for all the wedding stuff that is going on but you can check out the wedding blog for that! I hope everyone is having a very happy wednesday!! :)

Movies

I forgot to mention some of the movies we have seen lately. The best by far was Juno...i seriously believe it is my new favorite movie for the moment. And i love the soundtrack. Horrible singing but just fun :)

We also have seen 27 dresses, National Treasure and No Country for Old Men. Let me tell you that No Country for Old Men was one of the most distrubing, creepy movies that i have seen in a long time (maybe ever). Its not bad, as a matter of fact Cody really liked it, but i will never see it again. I think my main problem with is was that it has such a feeling like that could actually happen. The killer didn't have an agenda on who he was going to kill, it was just if he said he would or if he won the coin toss. There is no tension release through out the movie either (a least not for me)...movies like this really bother me...but if it doesn't bother you, you might want to see it! :)

I love orange juice

This is not my ode to OJ but i couldn't think of anything for a subject.

Monday, Josh took Cody and my engagement pictures...i'm excited to see them. We had a lot of fun....even Cody, who did seem like he was having fun at all. Engagement pictures are pretty much for girls anyway :) I know i said i wasn't going to talk about the wedding but one blog won't hurt. And if it makes you cringe please stop reading! :) We got our "concert tickets" yesterday, which i'm super pumped about. And then our wristband have been in for a while! I also bought my dress. It super pretty. But it doesn't come in until April :( I'm looking forward to everything, i think it is going to be loads of fun. woohoo! But i'm also very ready to stop planning and just have everything done.

Really, nothing much else is going on. Just trying to work (its hard sometimes)!

On another topic....we found a really good band through the paste magazine. They are called Architecture in Helsinki. They have a very different sounds. They begin one of their albums with a female vocal and i'm pretty sure a theremin. They use a lot of full orchestra sounds too. Its really cool! People should check it out. ALSO, in bigger news...radiohead has announced the US cities that will hit on their tour. Dallas and Houston being two of them. woohoo! :) I'm going to make sure to be on top of this so i can get tickets the day they come out so that i can get great seats!
